Speaking of Scholarships...

Remind your Aggies to keep an eye out for more scholarship opportunities available to them by visiting the portal and reading those emails! In addition, Texas A&M Foundation loves to make it rain, but only if your student submits their app on time. You can never go wrong with free money!

Annual potluck dinner and book exchange event.

DCAM Book Club met via Zoom last month for a discussion of the first book of the year:  The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. The book is based on the life of Martha Ballard who was was an American midwife, healer, and diarist. Unusual for the time, Ballard kept a diary with hundreds of entries over nearly three decades, which has provided historians with invaluable insight into colonial frontier-women's lives.

Lots of discussion of then versus now regarding the role of women in the late 1700's, childbirth and midwifery, the justice system, and power dynamics of men vs women. We all thought it was a great read. (On a side note, it wasn't lost on us that we were discussing "The Frozen River" on a frozen day in Dallas!)

Join us February 25 (Central Market @ Preston/Royal) at 7pm when our book will be: My Friends by Fredrik Backman. A full list of books for the new year can be found on the DCAM website. The book club is a social branch of DCAM.

GUESS WHAT?!! Before we can say WHOOP, it will be time to vote on a new DCAM Board for the 2026-2027 academic year! We are officially taking names to fill some shoes because, according to our bylaws, we have a few term limits approaching and we're thrilled to expand our sisterhood with YOU!

ALL volunteers are welcome - so feel free to share any strengths or special interests you have because we will find a spot for you! A few of the openings involve party planning, technology, crafting, fundraising, promotions, and marketing - all to support each other and our Aggies. If none of these pique your interest, we'll create something that does! The best part is: all positions include a village of moms to help and new friendships to make so don't be shy, let us get to know you!

Thanks and Gig ‘em,

Carol Barke

Federation Information
Federation Emblem

Any event sponsored through The Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers' Club will have this emblem beside the listing. The Federation is the umbrella group over all the individual clubs. These events are open to members of all the different Aggie Moms' Clubs.

The Federation and each individual Aggie Moms’ Club, from the largest with over 300 members to the smallest with only 5 members, share a common goal: To band together to do whatever is necessary to benefit the students at Texas A&M University. Each of the mothers also benefits in the process by sharing a camaraderie that cannot be found elsewhere.  An Aggie Moms’ Club meeting is a nurturing place to share the successes and setbacks of a child’s college career with others who have had the same experiences.

In addition to awarding scholarships to individual students, A&M Mothers’ Clubs serve Texas A&M University by financially supporting campus organizations.  The Aggie Band, the Corps of Cadets, the Endowment Fund for Sterling C. Evans Library, Fish, Transfer and S.A.L.T. Camps, Peer Orientation Conferences, CARPOOL, and over 1000 other Student Organizations receive financial support each year from Aggie Moms’ Clubs.
